Wetherspoon set to open new pub
Pub group JD Wetherspoon is set to obtain permission to open a second premises in Shrewsbury town centre, despite some objections from residents.
The company claims the new venue at a former shop in the Pride Hill Centre would be “primarily a restaurant” and not just a drinking establishment.
Concerns have been raised over noise and disturbance late at night.

But councillors are set to approve the application for a change of use when they meet on 6 November.
The company applied to open until 0030 GMT from Sunday to Thursday and 0130 GMT on Fridays and Saturdays.
But a report said it had agreed in principle to earlier closing times in line with a nearby venue.
The company already runs the Shrewsbury Hotel, in Bridge Place.
