Three-hour Eurotunnel delays after train fault

Eurotunnel passengers were facing three-hour delays on one of the biggest travel days of the year after a train stopped in the tunnel with a fault.

The disruption at the UK terminal in Folkestone was caused by “a technical issue” on a Eurostar train, a Eurotunnel spokeswoman said.

Up to 800 passengers were delayed for more than two hours on the London to Paris service before being taken to Calais where they boarded replacement trains, according to reports.

The Eurotunnel spokeswoman said: “The train has now moved but due to this incident we are experiencing delays to our services.

“We are doing our best to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.”

The company’s website says there were delays of three hours and passengers were urged to check their bookings.
